Tonsils are a collection of lymphoid tissue situated at the base of the mouth at the
junction between the opening of the oesophagus and pharynx.
Tonsils play a very important role in the body's defence against various diseases.
They are of three types :
- Pharyngeal tonsils/adenoids.
- Palatine tonsils.
- Lingual tonsils.
Tonsils and adenoids both rike guards, serve to fight and prevent micro-organisms

ACUTE TONSILLITIS
This is sudden and rapid inflammation of tonsils often accompanied with high fever.
The signs & symptoms of acute tonsillitis

- Snoring and breathing through the mouth
- Deafness
- Follicular tonsillitis with pus formation
CHRONIC TONSILLITIS
This is persistently enlarged condition of tonsils that frequently inflames in response to infection.

The main causative factor behind recurrent attacks of tonsillitis isALLERGY. Allergy is an abnormal and individual hypersensitivity to substances that are ordinarily harmless. For example, the pollen of plants is generally harmless, yet many people are sensitive to its presence in the atmosphere. The hyper and abnormally sensitive state of a person is called ALLERGY.
ALLERGENS- The agent provoking anallergic reaction is called an Allergen. The
most common allergens are-Pollens-Ragweed, grass and tree pollens which cause Hay-fever and allergic
rhinitis. Plants - Poison ivy, poison sumac and poison oak, which cause a severe dermatitis
on contact. -Animal hair - Horse, dog or cat are frequent causes of Bronchial Asthma.
- Foods - Eggs, chocolate, pork, wheat, milk, nuts, strawberries, cottonseed oil, artificial flavours and colours.
- Drugs - Urea, pesticides, vaccination for prevention, cosmetics like perfumes, hair
dyes, lipsticks.
- Chemicals - e.g. toothpaste, soap, selsun (selenium sulphide).
TYPES OFALLERGIES- There are two types of allergies :
Exogenic or External & Endogenic or lnternal
Exogenic allergy is caused by any of the various allergens mentioned above.
Erroneously every allergy is taken as exogenic and therefore, various tests such as
patch test on the skin, are done and the patient is finally advised to avoid scores of
things to which he shows sensitivity.
Endogenic allergy as far as our experience goes, is the FUNDAMENTAL cause of all allergies and it runs in the family of the patient, just as a patient suffering from Eczema in childhood may suffer from Bronchial Asthma in adulthood or there may be history of a disease like Hay-fever, Urticaria, Eczema orAsthma in the family (blood relations) of the patient. So allergy in such cases is hereditary (genetic) and it may
remain dormant in the system till the patient comes in contact with right type of allergen. Keeping the patient away from the suspected allergen may have temporary benefit but ultimately it is the constitutional treatment on the lines of Hahnemannian
Homoeopathy that can eradicate the FUNDAMENTAL CAUSE of allergy from the system of the patient. Allergy which is not discernible to any allergen is also termed idiopathic allergy.
Composition:
Tonsil Aid is a unique composition of selective Homoeopathic medicines which are
time-tested, clinically tried and well-known in the treatment of tonsillitis. Mercurius Bin lodatus 6x, Kali. mur. 6x, Belladonna 6x, Baryta carb. 12x, Ferrum phos.6x.
MERCURIUS BIN IODATUS - lt is useful when the tonsils are inflamed especially on the left side. Prevents peritonsillitis if given frequently. Cough associated with a
foreign body sensation in the throat.
KALI. MUR. - lt is indicated when the tonsils are inflammed and enlarged to such an extent that there is difficulty in breathing. There are greyish-white deposits/spots on
the tonsils. Spasmodic cough with thick and white sputum.
BELLADONNA - Useful at the beginning of acute tonsillitis especially in children, enlarged and inflammed tonsils especially right side. Dry cough with foreign body
sensation in the throat and difiiculty in swallowing. May be associated with fever.
BARYTA CARB. - Useful in chronic hypertrophy of the tonsils due to repeated attacks of cough and cold. Associated with the enlargement of cervical lymph nodes.
FERRUM PHOS. - Used in the 1st stage of all inflammatory conditions. Also used afteroperations on throat and nose to control bleeding and relieve soreness.
Tonsil Aid helps in relieving tonsilitis by:
- Reducing the size of the tonsils thus converting enlarged, unhealthy tonsils to healthy ones.
- lncreasing the resistance (immunity) to repeated infections/exposure to allergens.
Thus, it is an erroneous idea that the surgical removal of tonsils decreases the individual's susceptibility to catch infection. Experience shows that such a drastic

DOSAGE :
Adults- 2 tablets 3 to 4 times a day. ln acute conditions of bronchitis,asthma, cough & sore throat - 4 tablets may be taken in half cup of warm water -
every two hours - during day time. Revert to normal dosage when the acute symptoms subside (usually in 2-3 days).
For children (upto 7 yrs.) - use half the above dosage in the same manner. Chronic patients, who have a tendency to catch cough & cold very frequenfly, should take 2 tablets of Tonsil Aid twice daily (whether they suffer from an acute attack or not), regularly for a minimum period of 6 months to build up the resistance of the body.
DIET CHART
Avoid the following during medication :
COLD FOOD/DRINKS : Cold water and areated drinks.
SOUR FOODS :Curd, vinegar, pickles, ketchup etc.
OILY FOODS & DRY FRUITS : Preparations made in oil/butter or ghee, nuts etc..
STORAGE :
Protect from heat, moisture & direct sunlight.
Replace the cap immediately after use.
