Pharmacology: Phitkari is an astringent,
anti-spasmodic, antiseptic and has a soothing effect on the respiratory
tract. Vasaka is a very popular expectorant used in acute and chronic
bronchitis. It also liquefies the Sputum. Nala is an anti-spasmodic
expectorant, mainly used to reduce bronchospasm during an attack. Dudhi
has depressant action on the cough centre, but relaxes bronchi, and is
particularly effective in children's cough. Huma controls the asthmatic
paroxysms.
Jethimadh
is used as mild expectorant and as demulcent in inflammatory affections
and irritable, conditions of the bronchial tubes. Asgandh is a tonic,
astringent and nervine sedative. Chotachand and Balatagra
are used as mild sedatives
Children
:
1/4 to 1/2 tablet every 4 hours.
For smaller children the
tablets are crushed and given with honey.
In severe cases, the dose
is repeated every 2 hours.
To raise general resistance,
and to bring about quick recovery, it is advisable to give ALBO-SANG
with milk twice a day
