Pharmacology: Chirata and
Manjista
improve appetite and rid the body of toxic substances.Senna
and
Saunf have cholagogue action and improve the function of the liver.
Bhangra is known for its threrapeutic action in enlargement of liver
and spleen. It is used in catarrhal jaundice for maintaining the integrity
and normal function of liver cells; it has also been used in cirrhosis
of the liver.
Nagakesara is used as a astringent and stomachic.Kaiphal
is a aromatic and astringent. Balaharde is used in flatulence, colic
and enlarged spleen and liver. Dhania is a aromatic stimulant carminative
and stomachic. Gugul is used as intestinal disinfectent and in chronic
catarrh of the bowels and as carminative.
Haldi,
Sunth, Ajwon, Aunla, Pipli and jeera are used as Aromatics,
Carminative, Stimulant and as Digestives.
Indication: Hepatic disorders, indigestion,
flatulent dyspepsia, loss of appetite, constipation, catarrhal jaundice,
disorders of bile flow, early cirrhosis of liver. Hepatic damage due to
antibiotics, oral contraceptives or other drugs.
Dosage
Adults : In the first
week 2 to 3 tablets before meals. A course of treatment for 3 weeks is
suggested. In 2nd and 3rd week , 1 tablet before principal meals twice
or thrice daily.
Children : Tablets:
half the adult dose. Syrup, 1 to 2 teaspoons fulls two to three times a
day.
Herbitars can be taken twice
or thrice daily as long as required. Enough water should be taken. In the
treatment of jaundice it is best given with Kynotomine. For dyspepsia it
is given with Magnine.
It can also be given with
Vitesson for biliousness, nausea, vomiting.
