Pharmacology :
Phyllanthus niruri (Bhumi amalaki) :It shows hepatoprotective action. It inhibits Hepatitis B virus growth. Stimulates appetite and relieves inflammation of hepatic parenchyma. Bhumiamla increases the appetite, is digestant, laxative and a liver stimulant. It is beneficial in cough, asthma, urinary diseases, jaundice, malaria and enlargement of liver and spleen. Bhumiamla has shown clinical efficacy in Viral Hepatitis B
Clinical Information :
Indications: Hepatic health
Dosage: One capsule twice a day. Discuss the supplements and medication you take with your health care provider.
Mode Of Action :It inhibits endogenous DNA polymerase of hepatitis B virus and binds to the surface antigen of hepatitis B virus. It has been shown to exert hepatoprotective effect against carbon tetrachloride induced liver cell damage. Pre-treatment with drug, reduced paracetamol-induced acute liver damage in rats as monitored by estimating the serum transaminases (SGOT and SGPT), bilirubin and histopathological changes in the livers.
